Zachery Albright was born on Long Island, New York, in a small town called Long Beach. Going up literally across the street from the Atlantic Ocean, it was impossible for him not be intrusively drawn to the beach. His father taught him to swim even before he could walk, and Zach was surfing better than most before he could ride a bike. Rain, cold weather, history essays; all have failed in stopping him from riding the waves. His parents are big names in the law firm Albright&Albright, and recently were offered the opportunity to relocate to Tokyo in order to oversee the management of a new branch. Zach was immediately against it; fully aware that his parents weren't going to let him finish his last two years of high school in another country. He was shipped off to Roanoke, Virginia to live with his aunt and uncle. Zach's laid back surfer boy image and athletic background made him a hit at Patrick Henry High. His charm and good looks won him the attention of the girls, and his laid back, cool disposition made every guy want to be his friend. His presence was noticed by a few of the more popular upperclassman, who in turn felt that it was wrong for a junior to have the influence that Zach held. They decided to humble him. It was during this time that he acquired a pet desert iguana from the local pet shop. It seemed to call to him somehow, but he didn pay attention to the feeling at the time. After bringing it home, he was quite surprised when the iguana asked him to turn up the heat in his tank. After assuring Zach that he wasn't having a "flashback" the iguana introduced himself as Phaeton. He went on to explain to the young man that he had a greater destiny, as something called a Senshi. Zach reacted with excitement, as talking lizards telling their owners that they have superpowers was something he only read in comic books. There was a strange shaped scale on the top of the iguana's head which began to glow, and shot a thin beam into the forehead of Zach, suddenly awakening his alter-ego. Though he is hesitant to talk about the first time he became Hyperion Knight, it is known that it occurred when a group of varsity football players attacked him and a female acquaintance. She happened to be the girlfriend of one of them, which gave them the perfect excuse. They beat Zach mercilessly, and just as they began to retreat, the sigil of Hyperion appeared on his forehead, instantly transforming him into Hyperion Knight. Delirious with power, he evoked his powerful attack "Shining Dawn", and almost killed all of them, including his friend. They were rushed to the hospital with multiple lacerations and several broken bones, but Zach was nowhere in sight. He came to on the beach, hundreds of miles away from where he was. Zach immediately recognized it as his hometown of Long Beach. How he returned to Virginia, and learned control of his power he has not yet disclosed.

Personality Zach is your stereotypical surfer boy. He is lazy, tactless and rude. Yet, he is also street smart, easy to get along with, and witty. Everyone in his clique all look to him for guidance, because he tends to look at both sides of every issue. There is a definite wisdom behind the ignorant look in his eyes. Zach does however have a tendency to act immature and shallow. He is very socially conscious, and unless it fits his best interest, he will not "lower" himself to address anyone outside his huge circle of friends. His humor is often at the expense of someone's dignity, and he will not show any signs of empathy if surrounded by a crowd. This aspect of himself does not come without a price. Deep down, he feels a frustration and a guilt that is overwhelming; he feels that he is surrounded by nobody that actually appreciates him for who he is, merely kids who want to eek their way up the high school hierarchy. All the people that he demeans secretly have his sympathies. In reality, he would do anything to get to know everyone, but he is too scared to lose the comfort of his position. He expresses these feelings through his writing. He carries an unassuming black and white notebook that holds his most private thoughts. His role as a Senshi has bought almost nothing but joy to Zach's life. He wields his power with a child's irresponsibility. If he is late for class, he won't hesitate for a moment to transform and do a quick "Sunrise Voyage" to get where he's going. Years of reading comic books has branded a somewhat superficial but nevertheless productive desire to see justice done. However, the memory of the harm he had done to his classmates still lingers in his mind. The guilt he feels is speculated by Phaeton to be limiting his powers greatly.
